Should I Take Risk in Life? Yes!

Learn How to Feel Fierce, Get Out of Your Head and Take Action

Like millions of others, I watched Jennifer Lopez perform during Sunday night’s Superbowl halftime show.

She was dancing up a storm and owning the stage (while on heels and scantily clad, I might add). She looked so powerful and confident.

She had a fierce look in her eyes. The kind of look a woman has who is defining and living her best life.

Yet, beneath her glittery skin and sparkly outfit, I guarantee she has moments where she feels doubt, fear and insecurity. Maybe even in the moments before she stepped on stage and/or all the way back to when she was planning for the show.

I think the biggest difference between her and many of us (in addition to her being able to pole dance) is that she learned years ago how to push past her insecurities and take the risks.

When is the last time you pushed past your insecurities and took a risk?

I mean a big risk. Maybe not a shake-your-semi-bare-behind-on-a-stage-in-front-of-millions kind of risk, but you dared to do something your heart was nervously begging for.

A risk big enough that the outcome could be an epic fail, hugely embarrassing and personally painful. And yet, if your risk paid off, it could turn out to be amazingly life-altering and uberly satisfying step toward fulfilling your potential.

Exactly what I thought. You haven’t taken a heart-pounding deeply desired risk in a loooong time.

“I’d rather regret the risks that didn’t work out than the chances I didn’t take at all.” – Simone Biles, five-time Olympic medalist

Why? Because you think you have to wait until you feel completely in control of your life. Or until you feel fully confident and totally ready before you take action and press GO.

And that’s where you get stuck.

And stuck for such a long time that you almost forget what you were dreaming of doing in the first place.

“The biggest risk is not taking any risk.” – Mark Zuckerberg, 35-year-old billionaire, co-founder of Facebook

It’s never going to be the perfect time. You are never going to be one-hundred percent prepared.

No one is going to come along and wave a magic wand to make you feel like you are good enough. Or make you feel better about yourself in general. No abracadabra or potion or pill is going to fix your negative self-talk for you.

It’s up to you to decide how much power you give your inner (critic) voice. The negative chatter keeps you stuck, scared and that gets between you and what you dream of, wish for, genuinely desire and are capable of.

“Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and start being excited about what could go right.” – Tony Robbins, author, philanthropist, life coach

You can’t just sit on the couch, nice and safe, and rely on hope alone to deliver you the joy, adventure, satisfaction, motivation, sense of fulfillment, you dream of.

You have to take action. You have to take a risk.

Each of us deserves to feel fierce and powerful and to live our best life in our own unique way.

“I have found that taking risks, being true to myself, and making decisions with good intentions can exceed even my own expectations.” – Jennifer Lopez

Remind yourself that even the most successful people have fears (and failures). But they keep trying, keep taking actions forward, keep taking risks.

It’s never too late and you’re never too old.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas Edison

Cheers to feeling fierce! And to learning to push past our insecurities and lean into taking risks that could get us closer to living more fully! – Marlene
