How to Tap into Your Inner Power

You have everything you need already inside of you right now.

It’s just a matter of learning to tap into your inner power and endless resources of courage, strength and wisdom within.

All the power to feel whole, live fully, and figure out the steps toward your goals and dreams is always waiting to be intentionally released by the person in charge of how you experience your life: YOU!

Learning to recognize and release limiting beliefs that keep you stuck and make you feel unworthy, imperfect, incapable and not enough are vital to moving forward and living your best life.

When we learn and fully embrace that we hold the power over how we feel and how we experience each day of our life, we are empowered to go for more. Here are some helpful tips on how to tap into that power and take control your inner thoughts and feelings.

Let it be.

Figuring out how to let the hard stuff go (or to let it be) and to focus our energy and time on the present and on what truly matters – is life changing.

“It’s not a matter of letting go – you would if you could. Instead of ‘let it go’ we should probably say ‘let it be’.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Moving past the feeling that you need to be anything other than who you are is a process. It starts with releasing the need for perfection and the expectations you’ve had of yourself and your life for too long. These unmet expectations swirl around in your head and keep you held down.

We’ve all had failures and disappointments in life. And no matter how much you beat yourself up about them, blame yourself, and replay the reel of what ifs in your head… it changes nothing.

Dwelling on the past, on the hurts and on where we feel we don’t measure up, locks us into a cycle of negative thinking. You have the power to set an intention today to let it be.

Perfect doesn’t exist.

Stop thinking that you need to be any more perfect than what you are today.

“One of the basic rules of the universe is that nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn’t exist. Without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist.” – Stephen Hawking

Yes, we have goals – we want to do better and be better and continue to grow and evolve. That is a healthy mindset. What’s not healthy is to be driven from a need to be more perfect.

Clarify your motivation.

Are you beating yourself up over a self-induced obligation to be more “perfect” as it appears in a mental checklist you’ve made for yourself (or someone else has created for you)?

Or instead, would you prefer to find your motivation from a desire to evolve, to learn, to open up to the possibilities for yourself that you’ve barely dared to imagine? (It’s your choice, your power!)

You aren’t baked yet.

We are never finishing learning and growing. In fact, many spiritual leaders believe we are in this human experience for exactly that purpose; to learn, to fail, to grow, to win, to lose, to feel immense pleasure and intense pain. To evolve.

It’s all a part of the journey. A journey that should be opening us up to figuring out what truly matters to us, and to wasting less of our limited time and energy on baloney like attempting to achieve impossible perfection and how we measure up (both physically and socially.)

Learn to celebrate

Learn to celebrate your life every single day. It may not be a dreamy and tidy life – but it is your life. You are alive, you can breathe, you can think, you can move. There are endless blessings you can count and feel grateful for.

You can celebrate all that is right in your life (and the world) or you can dwell on what you think is wrong in your life. It’s all a matter of perspective.

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh

Dig deep into your innermost self and pull out the celebratory feelings – not only on special occasions or winning moments – but every single stinkin’ day!

Set boundaries and seek healing

Don’t be shy about taking care of yourself. Mind, body and spirit. Healing can come from self-care. There is no selfishness in self-care.

You have to seek wellness, good health, positive energy and healing in whatever for you can – daily.

Invest in yourself with intention.

Set boundaries and emotionally shield yourself from other people’s drama and negativity. This is your choice, your power.

Give yourself love – ignite your inner power by lighting your inner spark.

Create a short, but nourishing morning ritual. Practice affirmations. Take a bath. Walk, run, stretch. Eat well. Forgive someone.

Sleep more if you need it. Seek counseling. Go for reiki, or acupuncture or get a massage. Schedule health screenings. Read uplifting books. Journal. Pray.

Connect with friends who light you up. Clear the clutter from your desk or closet. Give the extra stuff away. Make something; knit, sew, hammer, saw, paint, color, glue, bake, weld, solder, sculpt, write.

Cultivate your own outlet for expression and creativity and consider sharing it with others!

“Know what sparks the light in you. Then use that light to illuminate the world.” – Oprah

Letting go of your imaginary perfect, celebrating each day with gratitude, opening up to your continued growth and evolution, and taking better care of yourself are within your inner power.

Learning to tap into this power (that I promise you have endless supplies of!) increases your ability to  more easily access your inner courage, strength and wisdom.

And those, my friend, are the keys to how fully you live your life, how able you are to dare to dream big and take the steps necessary to get you closer to your goals and to experiencing more joy.

Cheers to experiencing more joy, to our never-ending personal growth and to our inner power! – Marlene
